Hand Spinning Sound Art by Felicity Ford

I’m back teaching, so I barely have time to breathe at weekends, but the weekend just gone was a different story. My better half and I ventured to the Old Fire Station in Oxford to attend the ‘Playground on Fire’ festival where aforementioned other half was playing. AND I stumbled across this absolutely riveting installation by Felicity Ford. I have never spun my own wool before, so this performance was instantly engaging for me, but with the addition of contact mics attached to the bowl, you can hear the intricate sounds of the wool being spun as the fibres are scratchy and rough. Such delicate sounds! I loved it!
